At Wast Hill's Farm, Kings Norton

In 2014 the lights were turned out on our founder Will, during a promising career at a large bank. Will joined a major bank in 2004, climbing the corporate ladder, undertaking roles across the country. 

When the FCA's 'Retail Distribution Review' regulations firmly embedded themselves, many major banks made their Financial Advisers redundant. At the time Will was Financial Adviser covering affluent areas of Birmingham. 

The job market was flooded with Financial Advisers and not many firms were recruiting. The firms that were recruiting were transitioning into this new legislation with many deciding whether they would remain or consider closing. 

Will is a super passionate people person and was struggling to see how he could continue in the profession he loved. He had previously dealt with high net worth individuals, advised  clients on large investments and products to protect their family but could not get a role where he felt they were putting clients first. 

On a Thursday afternoon whilst on a call his friend Jon said:

 "Why don't you set up on your own ?" 

Coffee spat out in shock, fear set in and no-sleep was had for 48 hours. 2 days later, Will called a major financial services network, which had aligned values and the panic really set in. Will thought, Where will I work from ? Who will I give advice to ? How will I survive?

He called his wife and she said to him "It's my job to push to you and support you"  It's your job to help people now get it done!

In January 2015, Southcote Financial was born in a rented small barn with the ethos of "Client's First" and "Get it Done".  We've never looked back.
